Hey... I absolutely love your VANS shoe picture!! I love Asian movies and have watched some really good ones lately. A few were chick flicks, and then others were really sad, and a few good action ones. I think they are soo much better than American movies!! Some things that inspire me lately are seeing what others create, whether it be a neat photograph, painting, scrapbook page, sewing, or crafts. I love admiring other's work because it makes me want to try new things and come up with new, fresh ideas!!

Thank you for helping me find a new addiction...thesixtyone.com. A Very Long Engagement is one of my favorite movies of all time. City of Children by the same director is visually stunning as well and it has a great story line. The most inspiring thing to me right now is photography and music.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the movie FRIDA (go figure...it's my name!) She was an amazing woman and artist!
Posted by: Freda | January 10, 2008 at 10:07 PM
Oh yes Elsie! I think Heima is one of the most amazing visual things I've ever seen. It made my husband cry! Sigur Ros is one of the best bands of our time, for sure. He got it for me for Christmas and was so worried he wouldn't get a copy he pre-ordered it from several places, which ALL eventually delivered, though some passed Christmas. We just gifted them to friends to spread the Sigur Ros love. If you watch their vids on YouTube you'll see much of the same kind of thing as the movie. Amazing!

Hi Elsie,
Inspiration for me comes from reading and basking in colorful, creative blogs (like YOURS!), film (the movies Amelie, Moulin Rouge and What Dreams May Come are faves), music from the 30s and 40s (Absinthe Radio on Live 365), nature, and Somerset Magazines! Great Post, Elsie! Keep 'em coming!

I saw a story about the little girl who paints. How come the movie is so sad???? I'm so curious!
Thanks,

You will love A Very Long Engagement, great movie. 2046 took me a while to get into but it was a beautiful visual movie. What inspires me right now are all the spring fashions coming out. Spring is right around the corner!
Posted by: Sara | January 11, 2008 at 08:27 AM
I LOVED 2046.
Have fun.

These days I'm inspired by the clean slate that a new year brings, I have also been inspired while re-reading Anne of Green Gables - it is reminding me to let my imagination run wild. And this may sound completely silly but there is a particular tree in our apartment complex that looks so beautiful right now the leaves have finally changed color (fall comes late to Orlando, FL) and half of the leaves are on the ground for some reason this tree just makes me feel so thoughtful and inspired.

i love the photographs you take!
which camera do you use?
Posted by: rach | January 11, 2008 at 09:24 AM
hi elsie, you are one filmfreak!
I used to be one, but now going to the movies is too noisy for me:(
My alltime favourite is la double vie de véronique and also les trois couleurs rouge, bleu, blanc from kieslowski...
(and A white christmas, and Sound of music and... Sissi... pretty bad huh?)
Björk is a girl I really love: I think she is one of the most special and beautiful women there are and I really like her all natural.
I don't know what I am inspired by, but lately I have such an urge to play with paint, although I am not artistic at all!!

omg! u mean 2046 is shown there too? woah!

I can't believe you love Frida Kahlo. She was an amazing artist and her life story is so interesting. I was fortunate enough to visit her home in Mexico City, they called it the Blue House. The house has a courtyard in the middle and you can visit the rooms that are full of art and memorabilia. Highly recommended!!!!

Kate Nash totally inspires me, I think you would like her. Her new cd is called Made of Bricks, check it out:)

my son always inspires me... Simon is sunshine. But lately candy has been an inspiration, all the colours! Sticky, shiny, sweet... who doesn't love colour!

Things that inspire me? a ton of things. :] here are some:
Because i said So
vintage shops
you
mimes

this boy:] I cant help it. His mom and my mom were best friends growing up. met him at a wedding and gave him my number...he's so ambitious and such a dreamer. Ive been looking for one of those to keep my imaginative mind company. It was funny how our moms totally connived for us to hook up and it happened anyway. lol. http://photos-736.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v172/42/49/1014801736/n1014801736_14305_3704.jpg

Great movie choices! I think I've gonna have to go re-rent some of those old movies to watch again. What inspires me?
Really, my children and music.

a very long engagement is a great movie. You migth also like checking out Angel-A by Luc Besson. Awesome cinematography (in black and white) and I really enjoyed the story/message.

Hey Elsie!
My inspiration seems to changes with the seasons. Right now, I'm
inspired by classic music like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, a nice cup of English Breakfast tea in the morning, New York Times crossword puzzles and classic films like "Meet Me in St. Louis" and "Sabrina".
Posted by: Val | January 12, 2008 at 03:03 PM
i actually watched "a very long engagement" like 3 years ago in the cinema. But it kind of dissapointed me.
I loved, addored and admired "le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulai" but her next one just wasn't as sweet and heartwarming.
maybe it's just me...
but the "heima" was pretty...and there music is inspiration!

I really like "Frida" too ;)
have a nice weekend**
