Our Wedding: The Menu

I'm so excited to share the menu and food photos from our wedding reception. Emma and I had so much fun planning all the details. Our wedding was early in the day, so I wanted something with a brunch like theme for the menu. Here's what we enjoyed... 

For cocktail hour we chose four signature drinks and wine. My favorite cocktail is a Raspberry Mojito. We chose that along with a Cherry Mimosa (my invention, you should try it...), Bloody Marys and White Russians (for the boys, of course!) We also had pink champagne for the toast....♥ 

Next, we had gelato from the cutest local place. The was turkish coffee, raspberry, peanut butter and a few other flavors. They brought this adorable school bus to the wedding. If you look closely, you can see "Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Larson" written on the school bus window. Best part about having them cater the treat is that every time we go there for gelato it will bring back the happiest memories! 

For dinner we had heart shaped pancakes and other breakfast-y foods. It was adorable. 

The girls helped me make pretty fruit syrups and peanut butter for all the tables. I love peanut butter on my pancakes...

Then we enjoyed the treats. They were extra amazing. Emma packed us a box when we left and we had cupcakes in our hotel room. Raspberry for me. Red Velvet for Mr. Larson.

How I Made My Own Garter: Wedding D.I.Y.

For my wedding I became a bit of a shopaholic. I ordered tons of pretty things from Etsy shops and boutiques. There was just one detail that stopped me in my tracks, the garter! I spent some time shopping for a cute and non-1980s-looking garter. After not having much luck finding something I wanted to wear I decided to make one. I made two variations (one to toss and one to keep). Both were super easy and cute! The one pictured above is simple decorative elastic with silk daisies stitched all the way around. 

Here's how I made my garter... 

Step 1: Find some pretty lace and trim that you fancy! measure around your leg (about halfway between your knee and hip) and cut a piece of lace that is 2 inches smaller than your leg.

Step 2: Use fabric glue to adhere a cute trim to the middle of your lace piece. I found a tiny daisy trim that I loved!

Step 3: Stitch the garter together with one inch of elastic in the middle. Fold the lace (see photo) to hide the elastic and edge from the back of  your garter. Last, stitch on a pretty bow if you please!

Our Wedding: Bouquet & Garter Toss

This was a very very fun moment for me because my little sister caught my bouquet! It was sorta fun to see her snatch it from all the other ladies.

Jeremy's friend Andy caught the garter. It was really adorable!

Our Wedding Reception: Dancing

Here I am on the morning of the wedding tossing confetti on the dance floor. I was just a little excited...

Jeremy chose Brian Wilson for our first dance. We listen to this song all the time when driving for coffee. If we had 'an official song' this would be one of them! We have a very strong affection for Brian Wilson. There were plenty of Beach Boys songs on the dinner playlist too.

 

For the father/daughter dance we chose Harvest Moon by Neil Young. It's one of our all time favorite songs for a slow dance. It's so charming and adorable! Jeremy covered it at a show a few years ago and everyone in the crowd was dancing. It's one of our favorite memories.

 

And here's one more song from our dance playlist, our favorite Beach House song. So pretty! We had the most magical time.... xo. Elsie
